Newcastle Vikings’ younger handballers took part in their first mini tournament of the season on Saturday afternoon following on after the club’s senior men’s and women’s league matches.
Over 30 children representing the club’s Benfield, Temple Park and Gosforth-based teams enjoyed a fun series of games with lots of goals and some great teamwork.
In the junior matches the Temple Park greens beat the Benfield 1 greys 4-2 and the Benfield 2 blacks 7-0, before the Benfield 1 greys got the better of their counterparts 5-3. The Temple Park greens then ran out 9-0 and 4-0 victors over the respective Benfield teams, who rounded off the afternoon with a 1-1 draw.
Meanwhile, the Gosforth minis scored a double victory over the Vikings minis, easily winning both of their matches 7-3 and 9-3.
