Newcastle Vikings Handball Club are pleased to welcome Decathlon Newcastle to the Vikings family, having agreed a collaboration deal with the national sports retailer’s Team Valley store in Gateshead.
The partnership was announced on the retailer’s Decathlon UK (Newcastle) Facebook page: “Decathlon Gateshead has become a Viking! We are now collaborating with Newcastle Vikings Handball Club“.
Also publicising the club’s junior and mini-Vikings and family handball sessions, their social media post went on to add “Great for children (age 4+), they can try handball at Benfield Centre for Sporting Excellence“.
In addition to Decathlon Newcastle helping to promote handball and the club’s community activities to their social media followers across the region, Newcastle Vikings Handball Club will also benefit when purchasing sports equipment from the Decathlon outlet at Team Valley Retail Park in Gateshead.
Newcastle Vikings sponsorship officer María José González negotiated the agreement with the store’s Department manager Jose Pons, saying “Decathlon is a perfect collaborator for us. Not only are they committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle through physical activity, but they also encourage the local community to get active.”
She excitedly added, “All the members of Newcastle Vikings will benefit from this agreement, and it will help to spread the word and support our activities. From the club, we are enthusiastic to see this collaboration last and grow in the future.”
Supporting the mutual link-up, several Vikings players participated in a 5k Running Series event organised by Decathlon UK at the Gateshead International Stadium on 23 September, with winger Matthew Lamb finishing in a brilliant third place overall.
